Paradise Day II

Thursday 12/10
Another beautiful sunny day in Mauritius.  Another day of sunshine, lazing on the beach and by the pool, drinking cocktails and champagne and eating a lot.  Its free.

I mentioned that we are a fair way from the main pool and restaurants/bar.  but even worse is that we are on the 3rd floor of our little unit with 3 flights of stairs to get up and down. This photo does not show the 3rd level of stairs.

I hate stairs.

the beach today

I really like the deck chairs on the beach and around the pools. there are also cabana like structures with mattresses and side covers as in this photo. The occupants have to get them at 6 in the morning or maybe even earlier and leave things in them and then have them the whole day. Their own private comfortable little world. Paul and I don't need one. We are tough sun bronzed Aussies.

The beach is nice. white sand but with lots of coral and shells in it because there is a reef that protects the island from sharks.
But as a result there are bits of coral and shells all over the beach and in the water as well making it less pleasant to walk in than our own sand at Merewether Beach.  Not complaining as it is still beautiful.

We have a very  lazy afternoon lounging around the other pool, more walking until dinner under the stars.  Our last dinner is nice and we are very surprised to see kittens around our feet.  Reminds us of home.

Dinner on the balcony under the stars is nice, OMG I almost said romantic.

We retire to our room, 350 metres away and up 3 flights of stairs (not that I am complaining)  to receive the news our flight from Mauritius to Johannesburg the next day has been delayed 3 hours, from 9.15am to 12pm.  The good news is that we wont need to be up at 4.30am in the morning.

A bit later in the evening when a person came to our room and wanted to make up the room and prepare for the night. We have had to send them away as we had already retired.  Anyway he gives us a note advising the flight has been further delayed to 1.45pm.
This is starting to be an issue as we have a connecting flight from Joberg to Sydney.  Originally,  we were to have an 8 hour period between flights at Joberg and our helpful travel agent (of missing Botswana fame) had organised us to have 4 hours in the Premier Lounge area (think Qantas CLub) where we could shower, relax, eat and drink at our leisure.  With our now 4.5 hour delay, the Premier Lounge is not looking likely.

Oh well we will see tomorrow.  Fingers crossed.
