Airport: The trauma continues....
Tuesday 9/10/17
Today is the day we leave South Africa from Joberg Airport and fly to Mauritius, a flight of nearly 4 hours. All goes well on our own without a tour leader and we get on the right plane at the right time etc.
And then we arrive and wait for our luggage at the carousel. We wait and we wait. Finally Paul's comes through but not mine. it will be fine I say, we just need to wait, there are others who are yet to get theirs. Lets not panic........
OK so mine is not there and the thing has finished. One of us talks to a nearby worker assertively while I go to the baggage service people to report my bag has not arrived. By this stage, I am feeling a little upset. What is it with my bag for #$%^& sake???? Anyway I do the calm step by step thing with the officious baggage person. I am explaining that Joberg airport has some vendetta against me and that every contact I have through or with them leads to #$%^&.
And then the porter comes with my bag in his trolley which had just been found. However the bag was open, not by the lock but the zip had been broken. I immediately say, I told you so and those awful people at Joberg airport have broken inot my bag etc. Perhaps I am a little hysterical, which is not like me. Anyway the officious person helps me close my bag and announces, the bag is closed, the zip works, end of story, no claim to be made.
I say WHAT????
By this stage, we are very tired and emotional and need to find our transport to the Outrigger Resort which the travel agent has arranged. Not feeling completely confident (remember Botswana), we forget the bag issue and try to find our way to the transport place. We do so quite easily and find our driver and a person organising and have an incident free trip of nearly 1 hour to our resort.
It looks like a tropical island paradise, really similar to Fiji but a bit more polished.

IT all looks great except that our room is on the 3rd floor and there is no lift. And there are huge numbers of stairs everywhere. One of us is thrilled, the other is not.
WE have a package which includes all meals and drinks. It also includes a welcome cocktail on our first night. Never was a cocktail so needed and appreciated.
With a few different restaurants to choose from, for our first evening, we go to the easy buffet, which has lots of Indian and Asian food, all of it spicy. Great.
It is a huge resort and lots more to explore tomorrow.
