Cape Town at the Southern

Today we left the Westin to move to the southern sun waterfront hotel. somewhat less salubrious.   Only has an outdoor pool, no sauna or spa,  less staff and a smaller room.  On the plus side, there are 2 beds,  there is still a shuttle bus to the Waterfront which parks a little further away and no mini bar.

And like the Westin and every other building it seems in south Africa,  the entrances have revolving doors.   Really fast moving revolving doors where people get caught.  A bit scary and perhaps the scariest thing we have encountered so far in South Africa.

Once we had survived checking into our new hotel, Paul and I went to the Waterfront together for the first time.  there was music

A great view of Table Mountain with me in the way

and some nice coastal shots of Cape Town

And tonight we are kind of officially starting the tour  with  a 'briefing' at the hotel.  we meet the tour guide and our soon to be fellow travellers for a bit of a meeting, a very small amount of food and a free drink.
There will be 17 of us on this tour  with an average age similar to (surprisingly) that found on a river cruise. Great.
One couple's luggage has been lost and they will need to buy clothes for the trip tomorrow or die of cold apparently.    My simply broken into luggage is sounding not so bad right now.
By the way, the airport people don't answer their calls and the email address I was given does not work so am making no progress towards getting anything from either the insurance or the airport.
Maybe tomorrow................................

But at least I have my clothes.

We are warned not to go out at night but otherwise everything is fine and nothing  to worry about here...
